I really love Logan's look, which has echos of the iconic Marilyn Monroe. Logan played up that resemblance with a bombshell black dress, red lips and heels, and a platinum blonde bob. Perfection! I always want my girls to dress up and boy did they ever this year!
It's a classic look - a white dress under a Kansas sunset for a Kansas senior, and many girls choose that combination and look so lovely under the fading sun. Ava took the look up a notch with a dress with a lot of fabric, creating a flowing look that caught my eye, and looked so romantic and sweet, that I couldn't forget it.
Ashlyn chose this powder-blue knitted dress for the Nelson portion of her senior photoshoot, and looked so lovely. The color looked really soft and pretty among the neutral colors of the museum grounds, and was set off by her tan and sunny smile. This dress would be a minefield for most, but athletic Ashlyn had absolutely nothing to worry about.
Ava choose an eye-catching high-low maxi dress for the Liberty Memorial portion of her senior photoshoot, The special dress paired so well with this spectacular location; and the red was such a wonderful choice for this tan brunette beauty. But I have to include another of Ava's outfits - she chose a Deluxe senior session, so we did a "Gold" session in the summer; and then in May we completed her studio photoshoot. For that, Ava came up with a fashion-forward way to show off her new school colors! This soon-to-be Missouri Tiger sported black and gold in a non-traditional way, and blew me away!
This was so refreshing and unexpected! Erin showed up in a perfectly-fitted black and white combo for one of her city outfits. Which I thought was wonderful, and a super choice. But then she brought out her volleyball and it made it even better. How cool is this, to wear something so sophisticated to show off your sport. Love it!
While many girls choose white dresses at sunset (and look classic in doing so), Mia, a true lover of fashion, shook things up with this ultra ruffled, sea foam green concoction that fluttered as she walked across the prairie. When I first saw it, before she put it on, I thought, "Oh, I don't know about this!" But once it was on, I saw and loved her vision.
Marissa, an accomplished French horn musician, chose the spectacular Kauffman Center for a portion of her senior portrait session. When I first saw her in this lovely sapphire gown, I knew it was a winner. The dark, cloudy day turned out to be a blessing, because the sky and her dress looked outstanding together. The high-low hem was the cherry on top!
Josie chose to wear a fantastic multi-colored dress with interesting elements that showed off her summer glow. The fitted corset top, ruched skirt, and the scarf-like attachment on the side all made this a memorable combination. We photographed in the Crossroads, and the colors and textures there set off the dress beautifully.
How fun is Adryan's outfit? Worn downtown, her plaid city shorts, and neutral, strappy top set off her red waves, and the urban environment, to perfection. The blue/green color of her shorts set off her hair, and her tan, making it just the right shade for this redhead. Somehow, also, the combo gave off a bit of a 1990 retro vibe. This outfit shows you don't have to do "out there" to be unique.
I love when my senior girls choose something truly unique for their senior photoshoot, so Emerson won me over in this two piece denim combo. It's so unusual! The apron tie-back of the top, the very simple, high neck bodice, the square cut as seen from the back, the tiny shorts. It looked amazing on this petite beauty, and stood out for its unique cut and style.
All of Ava's outfits were sophisticated and well thought out, but my pick among them was this fantastic red racer jacket, pleather pants, and the charisma to pull it off. I photographed her in the Kansas City Crossroads neighborhood, and Ava looked like a top model serving so much face, I couldn't help smiling during the shoot thinking of my luck in getting to photograph such a picture-ready kid like Ava, and so many others, as well!
Alyssa chose the romantic Colonnade in the Northeast side for one of her senior photoshoot locations, and put together an equally romantic outfit to wear there. The ruffled layers, filmy fabric, and even the bit of retro hair style all came together to create unforgettable senior portraits.
Caroline showcased her gorgeous, bohemian style in this stunning violet maxi dress she wore at Liberty Memorial and in the Library district. The color was the perfect match to her brunette beauty, and no one else wore anything even slightly similar. Bravo!
Ruffles and wind are generally a disaster during a photoshoot, Chloe in this unique two-piece set showed that there is beauty to be captured between the gusts. So much wind blowing her hair and clothing was frustrating to this beauty for sure, but she fought through it, and in doing that, claimed third place among hundreds of beautiful outfits worn by my Class of 2025 girls. The fit, the cut, the way the light blue color set off her blonde hair .... add in a dancer's body and you get perfection!
If they choose the Nelson Atkins as a location for their senior portraits, I always ask my girls to please wear something special to pair with the most beautiful place in Kansas City. All of my beauties this year rose to the occasion and I saw so many lovely girls in fantastic dresses at the museum this year. I chose Kate's dress as my favorite among them because of those amazing pleats, very full skirt, and the sweet butterfly-inspired bodice. Kate carried it off like a queen.
We weren't able to finish Alyssa's senior photoshoot for some reason that I can't even remember, but we got back together in November, on a cold and dark day, to finish it up. She wowed me by stepping out of the car in what was to become my favorite outfit of the year. Alyssa dresses form head to toe - all details are thought about and coordinated perfectly. The unexpectedly brown leather corset top (hardly anyone wears brown to their senior session!) along with the snake skin pants, the black leather jacket, the heels, necklace, earrings, and wavy mid-length haircut all worked together for the most sophisticated senior ensemble I saw all season. The healthy dose of runway-walker attitude didn't hurt!
Thanks to all of my beauties for choosing me to photograph you! While I only have 16 of you on my countdown, every single one of you put a lot of thought into your senior portrait wardrobe, and every one of you looked truly beautiful.
